Oana

Pianist Oana Rusu Tomai was born in Cluj, Romania. A graduate of Eastman School of Music (Doctor of Musical Arts in 2005) she has been a recipient of various scholarships and grants and has given solo and chamber music performances in both Eastern Europe (Transylvania, Moldavia, Hungary) and the U.S. Her principal teachers were Rebecca Penneys, Andrew Cooperstock and Dana Borsan and has been coached by Gabriel Chodos and Edward Auer. A proponent of contemporary music she has recently appeared for the University of Northern Colorado George Crumb Festival. Oana is currently involved in research and performance of music from her native country, especially the works of George Enescu and Romanian women composers.
